Hamburg: Karl Lagerfeld opens showroom at Sophienterrassen
Hamburg, 16 February 2009. The Sophienterrassen will raise the bar for exclusive real estate in Hamburg. The project at Harvestehuder Weg will create the city’s best and most expensive premium apartments. The interior of the main reception area, lounge and two lakeside villas will be designed by none other than Hamburg native Karl Lagerfeld. At the official opening of the showroom at Alte Villa on Mittelweg 110, Lagerfeld revealed his vision for the spaces to the public. “The had the idea, to participate in this project, as soon as I saw the photo’s of the project. I visited a private school in the neighbourhood of Sophienterrassen, so I feel very familiar here”, Karl Lagerfeld said.
One-of-a-kind location and exceptional quality
Also at the official opening of the showroom was Uwe Schmitz, CEO of FRANKONIA Eurobau AG, who announced that sales of properties at the Sophienterrassen were off to a very good start. The intense interest with which buyers and prospective buyers have approached the project shows that the unique location on the Alster lake and the exceptional quality of the Sophienterrassen are strong selling points on Hamburg’s premium residential real estate market. Karl Lagerfeld was enthusiastic about the project. “Hamburg is the gateway to the world. Sometimes I would like to stride through this gateway.”
FRANKONIA Eurobau and its partners Provinzial NordWest and SV SparkassenVersicherung are investing around €340 million in the Sophienterrassen. The architectural firms involved in the project were selected in consultation with the city of Hamburg. They are: Kister, Scheithauer, Gross (Cologne); MRLV Architekten (Hamburg); Kahlfeldt Architekten (Berlin); Petzinka Pink (Düsseldorf) and Carsten Roth (Hamburg). Marketing is being handled by Frankonia & Than Immobiliengesellschaft mbH. Private bankers M.M.Warburg & CO KGaA are offering the apartments to their customers as part of a cooperation agreement.
