In January 2005, the Frankonia Eurobau Max-Viertel GmbH hat has started with the construction of the Lenbach Gardens in the Munich borough of Maxvorstadt high-value and exclusive city quarter adjacent to the old botanic garden. The Lenbach Gardens that will be completed this year include a 5-star plus luxury hotel, ca. 100 condos of the extra class– partially with exclusive doorman and hotel service provided by the adjacent “Rocco Forte Hotel” – and ca. 23,000 m2 high-spec office space As principal developer Frankonia Eurobau had acquired 35 portrait studies from the heritage of the late painter Franz von Lenbach. Three of these were auctioned on the 28th of February a part of a charity event help in the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz.
Auctioneers were Dr. Michaela Neumeister, senior partner, Phillips de Pury & Company as well as Michael Scheublein, Managing Director of the Neumeister Münchener Kunstauktionshaus GmbH & Co. KG. The proceeds of the auction totaling 27,500 euro will be donated to the organization "Children for a better World". The associates of the principal developer, the Westfälischen Provinzial, the Westdeutschen Immobilienbank and the Frankonia Eurobau AG added to this amount with another 20,000 euro. Additional guests rounded the sum spontaneously to become a total of 70,000 euro.
The symbolic check was accepted by the patron of the organization, Dr. Florian Langenscheidt. Uwe Schmitz, chairman of the board at Frankonia Eurobau AG, already announced at the topping-out ceremony in May 2006 that three paintings of the collection would be auctioned for charity. The three paintings are the portrait studies "Frau Kusserow", "Edvard Grieg" (the Norwegian composer) and "Tina Joest" (wife of the Councilor of Ccommerce, railway director, and sugar manufacturer Wilhelm Joest in Cologne). As part of the event the ca. 200 guests with many art lovers among them took the opportunity to see the other 32 portrait studies by Franz von Lenbach. Many of these will get a spot in the Rocco Forte hotel and in the central reception areas of the apartments once the Lenbach Gardens are completed.
Painter Franz one of the most sought-after portrait painters of the late 19th century has realized his architectural life's dream in the Munich borough Maxvorstadt. Kaiser Wilhelm I, the Fürst of Bismarck, and various politicians, scientists, artists, poets, composers, entrepreneurs and aristocratic ladies of society belonged to his clients. The close-by square Lenbachplatz and the Lenbach house with its Tuscan garden adjacent to the Königsplatz coined the name for the "Lenbach Gardens", which even before their finalization and grand opening already were recognized as Munich's most exclusive noble quarter.
In Germany, Frankonia Eurobau AG is among the best performing and most successful providers in the medium-sized economy in the real-estate project development domain. The spectrum of the nation-wide projects ranges form classical residential, office, and commercial construction to city-image development of complete quarters in the premium segment.
